Exit and Enter Gracefully!

Every exit is an entry somewhere else.

Tom Stoppard the British playwright and screenplay writer of Brazil and Shakespeare in Love said those words. Short but to the point, I do exit and enter different experiences all the time. My thoughts take me to the far reaches of my world.  I enter another time, place and emotional reaction that becomes a new probability with unlimited choices. Once I exit that thought, I enter into another one that starts the process all over again.

I am constantly changing, exiting and entering different forms of consciousness in order to live my life. Unique aspects of my self blink on and off like a high speed pulsating light that catches the darkness with its awareness. I do this without trying and without the preconceived thought of blinking in and out of other realities. I am able to think and communicate without words or symbols. I feel the power of a connected energy running through me that propels me into daily expressions of life. I call it living; living in the now. This now brings me the pleasure of exiting one moment and entering another exciting one. The experience of life unfolds in a flash of consciousness.

The great German poet Rainer Maria Rilke explains this feeling of the now this way:

Later, he remembered certain moments in which the power of this moment was already contained, as in a seed. He thought of the hour in that other southern garden( Capri) when the call of a bird did not, so to speak, break off at the edge of his body, but was simultaneously outside and in his innermost being, uniting both into one uninterrupted space in which, mysteriously protected, only one single place of purest, deepest consciousness remained. On that occasion he had closed his eyes... and the infinite passed into him from all sides, so intimately that he believed he could feel the stars which had in the meantime appeared, gently reposing within his breast.

The thrill of life is in the now; in the presence of the stars and the all of nature that rests within me. I have unlimited energy that brings me to the essence of being human, which is the awareness of a greater now that is happening within me. I can express it freely, exiting one thought and entering another one gracefully.

Rilke is one of my heroes. I don't remember reading that but that quote is amazing… mindblowing.

I went to the 63rd birthday of a friend, Bevan Skerratt, yesterday, part of the part was him singing and sometimes inviting us to join in. One of his songs begins something like, every transformation begins with an ending. As he said that, i knew it to be deeply true.

Thanks Nicole. Rilke has inspired me for several years. I always find something in his work that takes me to another level of thought.
I will post more from him so we can enjoy his work together.
